Get Inspired at the Chicago Zinefest

For our Chicago readers and, maybe more specifically, our Chicago writers…there’s an event coming up this weekend that we don’t want you to miss.  The Chicago Zinefest is a brand new event that’s trying to shine the spotlight on the Chicago zine community and bring a little connectivity to the local culture.  The DIY spirit of zine creation is exactly the kind of thing that we support here at the ETA blog, and even if you have no interest in zine culture or don’t even know what a zine is (it’s a short, self-published and often handmade magazine), there are still lots of lessons on creation in general that would be worth picking up from the events.  There are a bunch of free workshops this Saturday and some cool related events happening on Friday as well.  From

Friday, March 12:

7-9pm Zine Reading

Quimby’s Bookstore, 1854 W North Ave

7-10pm Zine Art Show

I know I’ll be at a few of the workshops on Saturday.  If you see a young bald man with stubble who is perpetually carrying a laptop bag, say hello.
