For Immediate Release
August 14, Chicago, IL–The University of California, San Diego and the Institute for Arts Entrepreneurship announced today a new partnership.
University of California, San Diego is one of the world-class leaders in research. In addition to its focus on science, UC San Diego equally embraces the value art provides to the development of innovative ideas, design, education, business and healthy communities. The framework for this approach goes under the acronym STE[+a]M where science, technology, engineering, and math are joined with the arts. This process combines and leverages the strength of both the left and right brain.
“The Institute for Arts Entrepreneurship (IAE) has partnered with us to advance this framework based on the unique curriculum they have developed to shape and prepare the next generation of artists, technology and science researchers with the leadership and business skills to be successful in our 21st Century global market”, said Director of K-16 Education, UC San Diego Extension, Ed Abeyta. 7 new IAE courses will now be accredited through UCSD’s Accreditation Board – the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The accreditation from WASC ensures the high level of instruction is met and maintained.
“We are proud to partner with UC San Diego to reach Chicago first, and then we hope a national and global market, in an effort to provide this important array of skill sets to students, companies, and lifelong learners throughout our global community,” said Executive Director, Lisa Canning from The Institute for Arts Entrepreneurship. “We are seeking to advance interpersonal, entrepreneurial and 21st century skills simultaneously and could not be happier to have UC San Diego as a partner.”
