Lisa,

I found your blog while conducting research on leadership and the arts. I am chair for a community college art department in Southern California. I'm very interested in the work you are doing and feel fortunate to have found your site.

Hi Lisa, Brava for supporting this critical development in thinking for artists. I am a coach for artist entrepreneurs and help them create many financial streams from their work that support them, help them to grow and change their lives for the better. I am so glad for artists that they are accepting this thinking. Years ago artists and arts education groups would recoil from the topic as commericial, I see a change now and you are right on target helping it to grow.

Ms.Canning,

I work at an innovative visual art & entrepreneurial program at Florida State University called Master Craftsman Studios. Our program is based upon suppling FSUs needs for creative objects, using that revenue to fund our program, and teach sculptural technique with respect to business. We operate best as a post-graduate apprentice program where employees already have desire, aesthetic, competent skills, and a need for the understanding of business in art. You can check out our sthick at www.craft.fsu.edu

I am quite interested in generating a dialog about the need for business education in the visual arts. I have been combing the internet and found your site to be up to date. There are others, but they mostly seem to have lost their go-jo. Yours, on the other hand, has a lot of the mo-jo we constantly discuss, especially the "no more starving artists."

I would very much like to start a dialog with you concerning these ideas and others. Our program is growing and it is important for us to gather a clear understanding of the national movement so we may participate and contribute.

I look forward to your correspondence,
ira
